Navigating AI Governance: Priorities for Hong Kong-Listed Companies

More than 130 attendees joined us online and in person last Tuesday for Navigating AI Governance: Priorities for Hong Kong-Listed Companies, a seminar jointly hosted by Wizpresso and the Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI). The event provided a timely platform to share insights from our latest whitepaper on AI governance and to discuss the practical challenges organisations face as AI adoption continues to accelerate.

The session opened with a presentation by Wizpresso CEO Mr. Calvin Cheng, followed by a panel discussion featuring Wizpresso CEO Mr. Calvin Cheng, Wizpresso Advisor and INED of a HKEX-listed company Mr. Patrick Lee, and Chief Commercial Officer of Nova Insurance Consultants Limited Mr. Joseph Lee. The panel was moderated by the FCG HKFCG’s Chairlady Ms. Christine Chung. Together, the speakers explored the widening gap between AI adoption and governance readiness, and what credible oversight looks like in practice.

The panel covered a broad range of issues that are increasingly relevant for listed companies. These included whether AI governance should be viewed as a compliance exercise or a strategic advantage, how boards can establish meaningful oversight, and how organisations can improve visibility over AI use across the enterprise, including shadow AI. A recurring theme throughout the discussion was the need for governance frameworks that can keep pace with the speed of AI adoption while still supporting innovation.

AI is already reshaping decision-making, operations, and reporting, but governance frameworks are not always keeping pace. For Hong Kong-listed companies in particular, this seminar offered practical insight into how to integrate AI risk into existing controls, strengthen accountability, and improve the credibility of external disclosure.

We would like to thank everyone who joined us online and in person, and we look forward to continuing the conversation on responsible AI governance.
